ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ, ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਹੈ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੋਰ ਚੁਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਸਾੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।1। ਰਹਾਉ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਧਨ ਹੈ, ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਡੰਗੋਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੱਚੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਧ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ।2।1।32।

DHANAASAREE, 5th GURU, 8th HOUSE, DU-PADAS:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:
Remembering, remembering, remembering Him in meditation, I find peace; with each and every breath, I dwell upon Him. In this world, and in the world beyond, He is with me, as my help and support; wherever I go, He protects me. || 1 || The Guru’s Word abides with my soul. It does not sink in water; thieves cannot steal it, and fire cannot burn it. || 1 || Pause || It is like wealth to the poor, a cane for the blind, and mother’s milk for the infant. In the ocean of the world, I have found the boat of the Lord; the Merciful Lord has bestowed His Mercy upon Nanak. || 2 || 1 || 32 ||

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵ੍ਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।1।ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੰੰੂ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਇਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।2। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਕਦਰ-ਕੀਮਤ ਦੱਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਤੇਰਾ ਵਡੱਪਣ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।3। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਨੁੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ।4।13।63।
English Translation :
SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:
Remembering, remembering God in meditation, bliss ensues, and one is rid of all suffering and pain. Singing the Glorious Praises of God, and meditating on Him, all my affairs are brought into harmony. || 1 || Your Name is the Life of the world. The Perfect Guru has taught me, that by meditating, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. || Pause || You are Your own advisor; You hear everything, God, and You do everything. You Yourself are the Giver, and You Yourself are the Enjoyer. What can this poor creature do? || 2 || Which of Your Glorious Virtues should I describe and speak of? Your value cannot be described. I live by beholding, beholding You, O God. Your glorious greatness is wonderful and amazing! || 3 || Granting His Grace, God my Lord and Master Himself saved my honor, and my intellect has been made perfect. Forever and ever, Nanak is a sacrifice, longing for the dust of the feet of the Saints. || 4 || 13 || 63 ||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵ੍ਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।1।ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੰੰੂ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਇਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।2। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਕਦਰ-ਕੀਮਤ ਦੱਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਤੇਰਾ ਵਡੱਪਣ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।3। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਨੁੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ।4।13।63।
English Translation :
SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:
Remembering, remembering God in meditation, bliss ensues, and one is rid of all suffering and pain. Singing the Glorious Praises of God, and meditating on Him, all my affairs are brought into harmony. || 1 || Your Name is the Life of the world. The Perfect Guru has taught me, that by meditating, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. || Pause || You are Your own advisor; You hear everything, God, and You do everything. You Yourself are the Giver, and You Yourself are the Enjoyer. What can this poor creature do? || 2 || Which of Your Glorious Virtues should I describe and speak of? Your value cannot be described. I live by beholding, beholding You, O God. Your glorious greatness is wonderful and amazing! || 3 || Granting His Grace, God my Lord and Master Himself saved my honor, and my intellect has been made perfect. Forever and ever, Nanak is a sacrifice, longing for the dust of the feet of the Saints. || 4 || 13 || 63 ||

ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਿੰਦੈ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਨਵ ਨਿਧੀ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਸਿਧੀ ਪਿਛੈ ਲਗੀਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਦਾ ਵਸਾਇ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬੁਝਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ ॥1॥ ਮ:3 ॥ ਕਿਆ ਗਭਰੂ ਕਿਆ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੇ ਰਤਿਆ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਏ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ ਅੰਦਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਫਿਿਰ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਆਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥2॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਕੰਉ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਖਾ ॥ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਿਖਾ ॥ ਸੁਣਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਲਿਖਾ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਕ੍ਰਿਖਾ ॥ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਸੋ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਥਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਰੇ ਵਿਖਾ ॥19॥

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮ: 3 ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੇਵਲ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣੇ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣ-ਪੁਣਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਏ, ਨੌ ਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਫਿਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਮਝੋ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲੇ ਉਹ ਚਹੁਆਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਵ, ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।1। ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ੳਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।2। ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਜੋ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜ਼ੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ-ਜਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦਿਆਂ। ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ-ਥਾਂ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪੈਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਾਵ, ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।19।
English Translation :
SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:
One who knows God, and who lovingly focuses his attention on the One Word of the Shabad, keeps his spirituality intact. The nine treasures and the eighteen spiritual powers of the Siddhas follow him, who keeps the Lord enshrined in his heart. Without the True Guru, the Name is not found; understand this, and reflect upon it. O Nanak, through perfect good destiny, one meets the True Guru, and finds peace, throughout the four ages. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Whether he is young or old, the self-willed manmukh cannot escape hunger and thirst. The Gurmukhs are imbued with the Word of the Shabad; they are at peace, having lost their self-conceit. They are satisfied and satiated within; they never feel hungry again. O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 2 || PAUREE: I am a sacrifice to those Sikhs who are Gurmukhs. I behold the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of those who meditate on the Lord’s Name. Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, I contemplate His virtues; I write His Praises on the fabric of my mind. I praise the Lord’s Name with love, and eradicate all my sins. Blessed, blessed and beauteous is that body and place, where my Guru places His feet. || 19 ||

ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੇਵਲ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣੇ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣ-ਪੁਣਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਏ, ਨੌ ਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਫਿਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਮਝੋ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲੇ ਉਹ ਚਹੁਆਂ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਵ, ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।1। ਜਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ੳਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।2। ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ। ਜੋ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜ਼ੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਰੀ-ਜਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਕਰ ਲਵਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਕਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦਿਆਂ। ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ-ਥਾਂ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪੈਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਾਵ, ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।19।
English Translation :
SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:
One who knows God, and who lovingly focuses his attention on the One Word of the Shabad, keeps his spirituality intact. The nine treasures and the eighteen spiritual powers of the Siddhas follow him, who keeps the Lord enshrined in his heart. Without the True Guru, the Name is not found; understand this, and reflect upon it. O Nanak, through perfect good destiny, one meets the True Guru, and finds peace, throughout the four ages. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Whether he is young or old, the self-willed manmukh cannot escape hunger and thirst. The Gurmukhs are imbued with the Word of the Shabad; they are at peace, having lost their self-conceit. They are satisfied and satiated within; they never feel hungry again. O Nanak, whatever the Gurmukhs do is acceptable; they remain lovingly absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 2 || PAUREE: I am a sacrifice to those Sikhs who are Gurmukhs. I behold the Blessed Vision, the Darshan of those who meditate on the Lord’s Name. Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord’s Praises, I contemplate His virtues; I write His Praises on the fabric of my mind. I praise the Lord’s Name with love, and eradicate all my sins. Blessed, blessed and beauteous is that body and place, where my Guru places His feet. || 19 ||

ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ਼੍ਰੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ । (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੇਂਗੀ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਣ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗੇਂਗੀ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕ਼੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ, ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਇਗੀ ।1। ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਵਿਤ਼੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ (ਇਹ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ਼੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ । (ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਏਂ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਏਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ-ਆਦਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ ।2। (ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ!) ਇਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿੱਤ ਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ-ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਮੰਨ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ) ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਭਗਤੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਨ) ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।3।28।
English Translation :
AASAA, FIFTH MEHL:
If she renounces and eliminates her sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, and her evil-mindedness and self-conceit as well; and if, becoming humble, she serves Him, then she becomes dear to her Beloved’s Heart. || 1 || Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved. Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. || 1 || Pause || Washing the Guru’s feet, and serving Him, the soul is sanctified, and the thirst for sin is quenched. If you become the slave of the slave of the Lord’s slaves, then you shall obtain honor in the Court of the Lord. || 2 || This is right conduct, and this is the correct lifestyle, to obey the Command of the Lord’s Will; this is your devotional worship. One who practices this Mantra, O Nanak, swims across the terrifying world-ocean. || 3 || 28 ||
