ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਰਹੰ ਖੋਜੰਤ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਹ ॥ ਤਿਆਗੰਤ ਕਪਟ ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਮਹ ॥1॥ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਈ ਮੁਖਿ ਉਚਰਾ ਵਤਾ ਹਭੇ ਲੋਅ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਭਿ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਕੂੜਿਆ ਸੁਣਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥2॥ ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਬਸਤਾ ਤੂਟੀ ਝੁੰਪੜੀ ਚੀਰ ਸਭਿ ਛਿੰਨਾ ॥ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਨ ਆਦਰੋ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਭ੍ਰਮਿੰਨਾ ॥ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਇਠ ਧਨ ਰੂਪਹੀਣ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਕੁ ਨ ਸਿੰਨਾ ॥ ਰਾਜਾ ਸਗਲੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਭਿੰਨਾ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧੂੜਿ ਮਨੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਾ ॥7॥

ਸਲੋਕ ॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੌਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਛਲ-ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਦਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।1। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਗਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਈ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਕਰ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣ ਸਕਾਂ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਉ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।2।ਪਉੜੀ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਟੁੱਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਕੁੱਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ, ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਦਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਾ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ)। ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਤਰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਧਨ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਕ ਸੈਣ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਜੇਹਾ ਨਿਥਾਵਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸਮਝੋ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।7।
English Translation :

SHALOK:

One who loves the Lord’s lotus feet searches for Him in the ten directions. He renounces the deceptive illusion of Maya, and joins the blissful form of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. || 1 || The Lord is in my mind, and with my mouth I chant His Name; I seek Him in all the lands of the world. O Nanak, all ostentatious displays are false; hearing the Praises of the True Lord, I live. || 2 || PAUREE: He dwells in a broken-down shack, in tattered clothes, with no social status, no honor and no respect; he wanders in the wilderness, with no friend or lover, without wealth, beauty, relatives or relations. Even so, he is the king of the whole world, if his mind is imbued with the Lord’s Name. With the dust of his feet, men are redeemed, because God is very pleased with him. || 7 ||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਗਗਨ ਮੈ ਥਾਲੁ ਰਵਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੀਪਕ ਬਨੇ ਤਾਰਿਕਾ ਮੰਡਲ ਜਨਕ ਮੋਤੀ ॥ ਧੂਪੁ ਮਲਆਨਲੋ ਪਵਣੁ ਚਵਰੋ ਕਰੇ ਸਗਲ ਬਨਰਾਇ ਫੂਲੰਤ ਜੋਤੀ ॥1॥ ਕੈਸੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ॥ ਅਨਹਤਾ ਸਬਦ ਵਾਜੰਤ ਭੇਰੀ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਨੈਨ ਨਨ ਨੈਨ ਹੈ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਉ ਸਹਸ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਨਾ ਏਕ ਤੋਹੀ ॥ ਸਹਸ ਪਦ ਬਿਮਲ ਨਨ ਏਕ ਪਦ ਗੰਧ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਗੰਧ ਇਵ ਚਲਤ ਮੋਹੀ ॥2॥ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਚਾਨਣਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ॥3॥ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਕਰੰਦ ਲੋਭਿਤ ਮਨੋ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਆਹੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥ ਕ਼੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਾਸਾ ॥4॥1॥7॥9॥

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ 1 ਆਰਤੀ

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਸਾਰਾ ਆਕਾਸ਼ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਥਾਲ ਹੈ, ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਦ (ਇਸ ਥਾਲ ਵਿਚ) ਦੀਵੇ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ, (ਥਾਲ ਵਿਚ) ਮੋਤੀ ਰੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ । ਮਲਯ ਪਰਬਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹਵਾ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਧੂਪ (ਧੁਖ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ, ਹਵਾ ਚੌਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ-ਰੂਪ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ) ਲਈ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।1। ਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! (ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਤੇਰੀ ਕੈਸੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ! (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਮਕ ਰਹੀ) ਇੱਕ-ਰਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰੌ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹਨ (ਪਰ, ਨਿਰਾਕਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ । ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ । ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਹਨ, ਪਰ (ਨਿਰਾਕਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਤੇਰਾ ਇੱਕ ਭੀ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ । ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨੱਕ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਨੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ । ਤੇਰੇ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।2। ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਉਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਰਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ । ਉਸ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੇ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਨਣ (ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ) ਹੈ । ਪਰ ਇਸ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ) । (ਇਸ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੀ) ਆਰਤੀ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਰਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ) ।3। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨ-ਰੂਪ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਲਲਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸੇ ਰਸ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ । ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਪੀਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦਾ ਜਲ ਦੇਹ, ਜਿਸ (ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ) ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਿਕਆ ਰਹਾਂ ।4।1।7।9।
English Translation :

DHANAASAREE, FIRST MEHL, AARTEE:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

In the bowl of the sky, the sun and moon are the lamps; the stars in the constellations are the pearls. The fragrance of sandalwood is the incense, the wind is the fan, and all the vegetation are flowers in offering to You, O Luminous Lord. || 1 || What a beautiful lamp-lit worship service this is! O Destroyer of fear, this is Your Aartee, Your worship service. The sound current of the Shabad is the sounding of the temple drums. || 1 || Pause || Thousands are Your eyes, and yet You have no eyes. Thousands are Your forms, and yet You have not even one form. Thousands are Your lotus feet, and yet You have no feet. Without a nose, thousands are Your noses. I am enchanted with Your play! || 2 || The Divine Light is within everyone; You are that Light. Yours is that Light which shines within everyone. By the Guru’s Teachings, this Divine Light is revealed. That which pleases the Lord is the true worship service. || 3 || My soul is enticed by the honey-sweet lotus feet of the Lord; night and day, I thirst for them. Bless Nanak, the thirsty song-bird, with the water of Your Mercy, that he may come to dwell in Your Name. || 4 || 1 || 7 || 9 ||

ਮਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ॥ ਸਭਿ ਇਛਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਚੂਕਾ ਡਰੁ ਜਮ ਕੇ ॥1॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਬੋਧਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪੀਆ ਰਸੁ ਗਟਕੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇਰੀ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਮ ਧੋਵਹ ਪਗ ਜਨ ਕੇ ॥2॥ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭੁ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਰਸੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਕੇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭ ਲਾਥੀ ਤਿਸ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ॥3॥ ਹਮਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਮ ਵੇਚਿਓ ਸਿਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਜਨ ਕੇ ॥4॥1॥

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਪਜੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਮ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।1। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ । ਜੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੜਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਾ (ਉਥੇ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਵਾਂਗਾ ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । (ਪਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਤੇ਼੍ਰਹ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ।3। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਿੱਖ’ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲੈ (ਤੇ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖ) ।4।1।
English Translation :

RAAG SOOHEE, FOURTH MEHL, FIRST HOUSE:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

My mind worships and adores the Lord’s Name, through the Guru, and the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. All the desires of my mind and body have been fulfilled; all fear of death has been dispelled. || 1 || O my mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name. And when the Guru is pleased and satisfied, the mind is instructed; it then joyfully drinks in the subtle essence of the Lord. || 1 || Pause || The Sat Sangat, the True Congregation of the True Guru, is sublime and exalted. They sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord God. Bless me with Your Mercy, Lord, and unite me with the Sat Sangat; I wash the feet of Your humble servants. || 2 || The Lord’s Name is all. The Lord’s Name is the essence of the Guru’s Teachings, the juice, the sweetness of it. I have found the Ambrosial Nectar, the Divine Water of the Lord’s Name, and all my thirst for it is quenched. || 3 || The Guru, the True Guru, is my social status and honor; I have sold my head to the Guru. Servant Nanak is called the chaylaa, the disciple of the Guru; O Guru, save the honor of Your servant. || 4 || 1 ||

ਟੋਡੀ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੂਰਖ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਝੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਮੱਛੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਛੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੁੰਡੀ ਵਿਚ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੇ? ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੂਰਖ ਜੀਵ ਮੋਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਿਭਾਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।1। ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।2।2।19।
English Translation :

TODEE, FIFTH MEHL:

My foolish heart is in the grip of pride. By the Will of my Lord God, Maya, like a witch, has swallowed by soul. || Pause || More and more, he continually yearns for more; but unless he is destined to receive, how can he obtain it? He is entangled in wealth, bestowed by the Lord God; the unfortunate one attaches himself to the fire of desires. || 1 || Listen, O mind, to the Teachings of the Holy Saints, and all your sins shall be totally washed away. One who is destined to receive from the Lord, O servant Nanak, shall not be cast into the womb of reincarnation again. || 2 || 2 || 19 ||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ । ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ । ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।3। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਪਰਾਏ ਧਨ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਐਬ ਪਾਪ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ, ਭਿਆਨਕ ਜਮ ਭੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ) ।4। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ਼੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਬੁਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਤ਼੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ ।5।1।55।
English Translation :

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL, TWELFTH HOUSE:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

I bow in reverence to the Lord, I bow in reverence. I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, my King. || Pause || By great good fortune, one meets the Divine Guru. Millions of sins are erased by serving the Lord. || 1 || One whose mind is imbued with the Lord’s lotus feet is not afflicted by the fire of sorrow. || 2 || He crosses over the world-ocean in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. He chants the Name of the Fearless Lord, and is imbued with the Lord’s Love. || 3 || One who does not steal the wealth of others, who does not commit evil deeds or sinful acts — the Messenger of Death does not even approach him. || 4 || God Himself quenches the fires of desire. O Nanak, in God’s Sanctuary, one is saved. || 5 || 1 || 55 ||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਨਾਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ ਆਪ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ) ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ) ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ । ਇਹਨਾਂ ਜਤਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕੱਟ । (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਦਇਆ-ਦਾ-ਘਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਸੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਉਸੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਨਮ-ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵੇਦ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ (ਹਰੇਕ ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਗਤ ਜਨ (ਭੀ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।3। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ (ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ) ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਲ ਹੈ, ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।4।2।20।
English Translation :

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:

The Lord and Master destroys the pain of the poor; He preserves and protects the honor of His servants. The Lord is the ship to carry us across; He is the treasure of virtue — pain cannot touch Him. || 1 || In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord of the world. I cannot think of any other way; make this effort, and make it in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. || Pause || In the beginning, and in the end, there is none other than the perfect, merciful Lord. The cycle of birth and death is ended, chanting the Lord’s Name, and remembering the Lord Master in meditation. || 2 || The Vedas, the Simritees, the Shaastras and the Lord’s devotees contemplate Him; liberation is attained in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and the darkness of ignorance is dispelled. || 3 || The lotus feet of the Lord are the support of His humble servants. They are his only capital and investment. The True Lord is Nanak’s strength, honor and support; He alone is his protection. || 4 || 2 || 20 ||

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੌਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਛਲ-ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਦਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।1। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਗਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਂਈ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਕਰ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਕਿਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣ ਸਕਾਂ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਉ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।2।ਪਉੜੀ। ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਟੁੱਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਕੁੱਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ, ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਤੇ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਦਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਾ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ)। ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਤਰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਧਨ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਨਾਹ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਕ ਸੈਣ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਜੇਹਾ ਨਿਥਾਵਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸਮਝੋ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।7।
English Translation :

SHALOK:

One who loves the Lord’s lotus feet searches for Him in the ten directions. He renounces the deceptive illusion of Maya, and joins the blissful form of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. || 1 || The Lord is in my mind, and with my mouth I chant His Name; I seek Him in all the lands of the world. O Nanak, all ostentatious displays are false; hearing the Praises of the True Lord, I live. || 2 || PAUREE: He dwells in a broken-down shack, in tattered clothes, with no social status, no honor and no respect; he wanders in the wilderness, with no friend or lover, without wealth, beauty, relatives or relations. Even so, he is the king of the whole world, if his mind is imbued with the Lord’s Name. With the dust of his feet, men are redeemed, because God is very pleased with him. || 7 ||

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵ੍ਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।1।ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਾ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੰੰੂ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਇਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।2। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਕਦਰ-ਕੀਮਤ ਦੱਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਤੇਰਾ ਵਡੱਪਣ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।3। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਨੁੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾਂ ਹਾਂ।4।13।63।

English Translation :

SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:

Remembering, remembering God in meditation, bliss ensues, and one is rid of all suffering and pain. Singing the Glorious Praises of God, and meditating on Him, all my affairs are brought into harmony. || 1 || Your Name is the Life of the world. The Perfect Guru has taught me, that by meditating, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. || Pause || You are Your own advisor; You hear everything, God, and You do everything. You Yourself are the Giver, and You Yourself are the Enjoyer. What can this poor creature do? || 2 || Which of Your Glorious Virtues should I describe and speak of? Your value cannot be described. I live by beholding, beholding You, O God. Your glorious greatness is wonderful and amazing! || 3 || Granting His Grace, God my Lord and Master Himself saved my honor, and my intellect has been made perfect. Forever and ever, Nanak is a sacrifice, longing for the dust of the feet of the Saints. || 4 || 13 || 63 ||

ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਵਿਤ਼੍ਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ (ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ,) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ।1। ਇਕ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੇ ਖਸਮ ਸਾਂਈ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ....) । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ।2। ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ । (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਉਹ ਹੱਥ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੈਰ ਪਵਿੱਤ਼੍ਰ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ । (ਅਜੇਹੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।14।

English Translation :

SHALOK:

With my tongue, I chant the Lord’s Name; with my ears, I listen to the Ambrosial Word of His Shabad. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to those who meditate on the Supreme Lord God. || 1 || All concerns are false, except those of the One Lord. O Nanak, blessed are those, who are in love with their True Lord. || 2 || PAUREE: I am forever a sacrifice to those who listen to the sermon of the Lord. Those who bow their heads before God are perfect and distinguished. Those hands, which write the Praises of the infinite Lord are beautiful. Those feet which walk on God’s Path are pure and holy. In the Society of the Saints, they are emancipated; all their sorrows depart. || 14 ||

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸੁਖ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬੀਤ ਚੁਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਵਿਓਂਤ ਬਣਾ ਰੱਖੀ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਅਸਚਰਜ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ ਭੀ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ- ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।2।23।87।
English Translation :

SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:

Peace in this world, O my friends, and bliss in the world hereafter — God has given me this. The Transcendent Lord has arranged these arrangements; I shall never waver again. || 1 || My mind is pleased with the True Lord Master. I know the Lord to be pervading all. || 1 || Pause || All beings are Yours, O Merciful Lord. You cherish Your devotees. Your glorious greatness is wonderful and marvellous. Nanak ever meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 2 || 23 || 87 ||

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਣ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਦਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।1। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰੀ) ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ, ਤੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਹੈਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦੇਸ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇਸ-ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਜਿੰਦ ਸਰੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਉਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਮੇਹਰਵਾਨ! ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ।2। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਲਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ। ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।3। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੋ। ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਹੀ ਹਾਲ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ।4।6।17।

English Translation :

SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:

We are filthy, and You are immaculate, O Creator Lord; we are worthless, and You are the Great Giver. We are fools, and You are wise and all-knowing. You are the knower of all things. || 1 || O Lord, this is what we are, and this is what You are. We are sinners, and You are the Destroyer of sins. Your abode is so beautiful, O Lord and Master. || Pause || You fashion all, and having fashioned them, You bless them. You bestow upon them soul, body and the breath of life. We are worthless — we have no virtue at all; please, bless us with Your gift, O Merciful Lordand Master. || 2 || You do good for us, but we do not see it as good; You are kind and compassionate, forever and ever. You are the Giver of peace, the Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny; please, save us, Your children! || 3 || You are the treasure, eternal Lord King; all beings and creatures beg of You. ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿੰਨ੍ੀਂ ਕੰਮੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਅਚਰਜ ਉਲਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਤਨੀ ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਹਰੇ ਪੱਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ, ਜਿਤਨੀ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਦੀ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਖੋਤਾ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੇਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਦਾ ਲੇਪ ਪਏ ਕਰੀਏ ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ। ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਵਿਿਸ਼ਆਂ ਦੀ ਠਗਬੂਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕੱਚ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।3। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ।4।9।
English Translation :

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:

You have made it your habit to practice those deeds which will bring you shame. You slander the Saints, and you worship the faithless cynics; such are the corrupt ways you have adopted. || 1 || Deluded by your emotional attachment to Maya, you love other things, like the enchanted city of Hari-chandauree, or the green leaves of the forest - such is your way of life. || 1 || Pause || Its body may be anointed with sandalwood oil, but the donkey still loves to roll in the mud. He is not fond of the Ambrosial Nectar; instead, he loves the poisonous drug of corruption. || 2 || The Saints are noble and sublime; they are blessed with good fortune. They alone are pure and holy in this world. The jewel of this human life is passing away uselessly, lost in exchange for mere glass. || 3 || The sins and sorrows of uncounted incarnations run away, when the Guru applies the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom to the eyes. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have escaped from these troubles; Nanak loves the One Lord. || 4 || 9 ||

ਤਿਲੰਗ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ਘਰੁ 3 ॥

ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੀ ਦੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਇਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ।ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ! ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ। ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ । ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੈਂ।1। ਹੇ ਅੱਲਾ! ਹੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ! ਸਾਰੀ ਖ਼ਲਕਤ ਦਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਹਾਨ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ।ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਧਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੋਜ਼ਕ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ? ।2 । ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।3। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ। ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਖ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ।ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਮਝੀ ਹੈ,ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।4।4।
English Translation :

TILANG, FIFTH MEHL, THIRD HOUSE

O Creator, through Your creative potency, I am in love with You. You alone are my spiritual and temporal Lord; and yet, You are detached from all Your creation. || Pause || In an instant, You establish and disestablish. Wondrous is Your form! Who can know Your play? You are the Light in the darkness. || 1 || You are the Master of Your creation, the Lord of all the world, O Merciful Lord God. One who worships You day and night — why should he have to go to hell? || 2 || Azraa-eel, the Messenger of Death, is the friend of the human being who has Your support, Lord. His sins are all forgiven; Your humble servant gazes upon Your Vision. || 3 || All worldly considerations are for the present only. True peace comes only from Your Name. Meeting the Guru, Nanak understands; He sings only Your Praises forever, O Lord. || 4 || 4 ||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਪਜੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਮ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।1। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ । ਜੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੜਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਾ (ਉਥੇ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਵਾਂਗਾ ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । (ਪਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਤੇ਼੍ਰਹ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ।3। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਿੱਖ’ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲੈ (ਤੇ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖ) ।4।1।
English Translation :

RAAG SOOHEE, FOURTH MEHL, FIRST HOUSE:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

My mind worships and adores the Lord’s Name, through the Guru, and the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. All the desires of my mind and body have been fulfilled; all fear of death has been dispelled. || 1 || O my mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name. And when the Guru is pleased and satisfied, the mind is instructed; it then joyfully drinks in the subtle essence of the Lord. || 1 || Pause || The Sat Sangat, the True Congregation of the True Guru, is sublime and exalted. They sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord God. Bless me with Your Mercy, Lord, and unite me with the Sat Sangat; I wash the feet of Your humble servants. || 2 || The Lord’s Name is all. The Lord’s Name is the essence of the Guru’s Teachings, the juice, the sweetness of it. I have found the Ambrosial Nectar, the Divine Water of the Lord’s Name, and all my thirst for it is quenched. || 3 || The Guru, the True Guru, is my social status and honor; I have sold my head to the Guru. Servant Nanak is called the chaylaa, the disciple of the Guru; O Guru, save the honor of Your servant. || 4 || 1 ||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਪਜੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਮ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।1। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ । ਜੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੜਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਾ (ਉਥੇ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਵਾਂਗਾ ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । (ਪਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸੁਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਤੇ਼੍ਰਹ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ।3। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਿੱਖ’ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲੈ (ਤੇ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖ) ।4।1।
English Translation :

RAAG SOOHEE, FOURTH MEHL, FIRST HOUSE:
ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

My mind worships and adores the Lord’s Name, through the Guru, and the Word of the Guru’s Shabad. All the desires of my mind and body have been fulfilled; all fear of death has been dispelled. || 1 || O my mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord’s Name. And when the Guru is pleased and satisfied, the mind is instructed; it then joyfully drinks in the subtle essence of the Lord. || 1 || Pause || The Sat Sangat, the True Congregation of the True Guru, is sublime and exalted. They sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord God. Bless me with Your Mercy, Lord, and unite me with the Sat Sangat; I wash the feet of Your humble servants. || 2 || The Lord’s Name is all. The Lord’s Name is the essence of the Guru’s Teachings, the juice, the sweetness of it. I have found the Ambrosial Nectar, the Divine Water of the Lord’s Name, and all my thirst for it is quenched. || 3 || The Guru, the True Guru, is my social status and honor; I have sold my head to the Guru. Servant Nanak is called the chaylaa, the disciple of the Guru; O Guru, save the honor of Your servant. || 4 || 1 ||

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਘੜੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਲੇਖ ਉੱਘੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।1। ਇਤਨੇ ਅਮਿਣਵੇਂ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਸੁਲੱਖਣੀ ਘੜੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ।2। ਰੱਬ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਛੇਤੀ ਆਵੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂ । ਉਹ ਮੁਹੂਰਤ, ਉਹ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਈ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਚਾਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਾਂ । ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਊਂ ਨਿਊਂ ਕੇ (ਸਤ ਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰੀਂ ਲੱਗਾਂ । ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਤੇ਼੍ਰਹ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ) ਮੈਂ (ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।15।
English Translation :

SHALOK:

One’s destiny is activated, when one chants the Lord’s Name, through perfect good fortune. Fruitful is that moment, O Nanak, when one obtains the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the Lord of the Universe. || 1 || Its value cannot be estimated; it brings peace beyond measure. O Nanak, that time alone is approved, when my Beloved meets with me. || 2 || PAUREE: Tell me, what is that time, when I shall find God? Blessed and auspicious is that moment, and that destiny, when I shall find the Lord of the Universe. Meditating on the Lord, twenty-four hours a day, my mind’s desires are fulfilled. By great good fortune, I have found the Society of the Saints; I bow and touch their feet. My mind thirsts for the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. || 15 ||

ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ ਉਥਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਦੱਬੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਗਈ ਹੈ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਚਾਉ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ; ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਹਉਮੈਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਦੇ ਹਨ।1। ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪੀ ਨਾਰੀ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਨਾਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਸਫਲ ਸਮਝੋ। ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ ਸੇਜ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਮਿਿਲਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹਾਗ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਦੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ।2। ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਭੈੜੇ ਹਨ, ਰੱਬ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਹ ਕਰੋ, ਉਹ ਬੜੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੇ ਹੱਤਿਆਰੇ ਹਨ; ਮਨੋਂ ਖੋਟੇ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਵਿਭਚਾਰਨ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਘਰ-ਘਰ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿਵਾਜੀ ਹੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ, ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ।23।
English Translation :

SHALOK, THIRD MEHL:

O man, you have been tormented by a nightmare, and you have passed your life in sleep. You did not wake to hear the Word of the True Guru’s Shabad; you have no inspiration within yourself. That body burns, which has no virtue, and which does not serve the Guru. I have seen that the world is burning, in egotism and the love of duality. O Nanak, those who seek the Guru’s Sanctuary are saved; within their minds, they meditate on the True Word of the Shabad. || 1 || THIRD MEHL: Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, the soul-bride is rid of egotism, and she is glorified. If she walks steadily in the way of His Will, then she is adorned with decorations. Her couch becomes beautiful, and she constantly enjoys her Husband Lord; she obtains the Lord as her Husband. The Lord does not die, and she never suffers pain; she is a happy soul-bride forever. O Nanak, the Lord God unites her with Himself; she enshrines love and affection for the Guru. || 2 || PAUREE: Those who conceal and deny their Guru, are the most evil people. O Dear Lord, let me not even see them; they are the worst sinners and murderers. They wander from house to house, with impure minds, like wicked, forsaken women. But by great good fortune, they may meet the Company of the Holy; as Gurmukhs, they are reformed. O Lord, please be kind and let me meet the True Guru; I am a sacrifice to the Guru. || 23 ||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਓ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਏ ॥ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰਿਓ ਸਗਲੋ ਧੰਧਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਏ ॥1॥ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਬਿਰਾਨੀ ਛਾਡੀ ॥ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮੋਹ ਮਨ ਬਾਸਨ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਗਡਹਾ ਗਾਡੀ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਨ ਹਮ ਕਿਸ ਕੇ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਸਾਰੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਓ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥2॥ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਮੀਤੁ ਹਮ ਆਪਨ ਕੀਨਾ ਹਮ ਸਭਨਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਜਨ ॥ ਦੂਰਿ ਪਰਾਇਓ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਬਿਰਹਾ ਤਾ ਮੇਲੁ ਕੀਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਰਾਜਨ ॥3॥ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਢੀਠਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੂਠਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਲਗੋ ਗੁਰ ਮੀਠਾ ॥ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਮਈਆ ਡੀਠਾ ॥4॥3॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਡਾ ਲਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਝਗੜਾ-ਝੰਬੇਲਾ ਲਹਿ ਗਿਆ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਾਈ ਆਸ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਹਉਮੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ, ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਆ ਪੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਨੱਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਖਿਲਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ-ਸੱਜਣ ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲਈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।3। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਢੀਠ-ਪੁਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਲ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ, ਸਭ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।4।3।
English Translation :

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:

Granting His Grace, God has blessed me with His Name, and released me of my bonds. I have forgotten all worldly entanglements, and I am attached to the Guru’s feet. || 1 || In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have renounced my other cares and anxieties. I dug a deep pit, and buried my egotistical pride, emotional attachment and the desires of my mind. || 1 || Pause || No one is my enemy, and I am no one’s enemy. God, who expanded His expanse, is within all; I learned this from the True Guru. || 2 || I am a friend to all; I am everyone’s friend. When the sense of separation was removed from my mind, then I was united with the Lord, my King. || 3 || My stubbornness is gone, Ambrosial Nectar rains down, and the Word of the Guru’s Shabad seems so sweet to me. He is pervading everywhere, in the water, on the land and in the sky; Nanak beholds the all-pervading Lord. || 4 || 3 ||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿੰਨ੍ੀਂ ਕੰਮੀਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ-ਸਤਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਅਚਰਜ ਉਲਟੀ ਮਤਿ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਤਨੀ ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਹਰੇ ਪੱਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ, ਜਿਤਨੀ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਦੀ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਖੋਤਾ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੇਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਖ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਦਾ ਲੇਪ ਪਏ ਕਰੀਏ ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ। ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ। ਤੂੰ ਵਿਿਸ਼ਆਂ ਦੀ ਠਗਬੂਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।2। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਭਲੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕੱਚ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਿੱਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।3। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ-ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ।4।9।
English Translation :

DHANAASAREE, FIFTH MEHL:

You have made it your habit to practice those deeds which will bring you shame. You slander the Saints, and you worship the faithless cynics; such are the corrupt ways you have adopted. || 1 || Deluded by your emotional attachment to Maya, you love other things, like the enchanted city of Hari-chandauree, or the green leaves of the forest - such is your way of life. || 1 || Pause || Its body may be anointed with sandalwood oil, but the donkey still loves to roll in the mud. He is not fond of the Ambrosial Nectar; instead, he loves the poisonous drug of corruption. || 2 || The Saints are noble and sublime; they are blessed with good fortune. They alone are pure and holy in this world. The jewel of this human life is passing away uselessly, lost in exchange for mere glass. || 3 || The sins and sorrows of uncounted incarnations run away, when the Guru applies the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom to the eyes. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have escaped from these troubles; Nanak loves the One Lord. || 4 || 9 ||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ 5 ॥

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਨੋਂ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ।1। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਪੀੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਰਹਾਉ।ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬਾਲਕ ਹਰਿ-ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇਵੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ- ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।2।6।70।
English Translation :

SORAT’H, FIFTH MEHL:

The Perfect Guru has dispelled the fever. The unstruck melody of the sound current resounds. God has bestowed all comforts. In His Mercy, He Himself has given them. || 1 || The True Guru Himself has eradicated the disease. All the Sikhs and Saints are filled with joy, meditating on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. || Pause || They obtain that which they ask for. God gives to His Saints. God saved Hargobind. Servant Nanak speaks the Truth. || 2 || 6 || 70 ||

ਸਲੋਕ ॥

ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਵਿਤ਼੍ਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ (ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ,) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ।1। ਇਕ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੇ ਖਸਮ ਸਾਂਈ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ....) । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ।2। ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ । (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਉਹ ਹੱਥ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੈਰ ਪਵਿੱਤ਼੍ਰ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ । (ਅਜੇਹੇ) ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।14।
English Translation :

SHALOK:

With my tongue, I chant the Lord’s Name; with my ears, I listen to the Ambrosial Word of His Shabad. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to those who meditate on the Supreme Lord God. || 1 || All concerns are false, except those of the One Lord. O Nanak, blessed are those, who are in love with their True Lord. || 2 || PAUREE: I am forever a sacrifice to those who listen to the sermon of the Lord. Those who bow their heads before God are perfect and distinguished. Those hands, which write the Praises of the infinite Lord are beautiful. Those feet which walk on God’s Path are pure and holy. In the Society of the Saints, they are emancipated; all their sorrows depart. || 14 ||
